The Transverse Myelitis Network

First National Bank - THE DEREON NORTH BENEFIT FUND

From Deidra Rosario:

My 2 year old daughter was diagnosed with TM this past June and is still currently in the hospital, hopefully getting ready to go to a rehab
hospital in Pittsburgh now. She also was the worlds youngest child to be
implanted with a Diaphragmatic Pacer, same as Christopher Reeves and
also by same surgeon, Dr. Raymond Onders. She also had to have a trach
and g-tube put in as well. This happened all of the sudden, no warning
signs, she went down for a nap and woke up with no muscle tone, could
only move from neck up. She was on life support ventilation until she
was implanted at Cleveland Rainbow Babies Hospital. We have been keeping
hope because there is a chance for some recovery but of course this
happened so fast i am still a little bit confused. We have set up a
benefit fund for my daughter at First National Bank, THE DEREON NORTH
BENEFIT FUND.
I had to stop working to care for my daughter and give her the support
she needs. If you can please pass the word on about my daughter and if
you have any questions for me please feel free to send me a message.
This is all new to me and i don't know who to talk to or what to do.

Thanks,

Deidra Rosario

Just wanted to let you know I'm praying for your daughter (and your family) here in North Carolina. You hang in there because she will need you, and babies tend to feed off their mothers emotions. I have TM myself but for a child it really hurts my heart. Hopefully she will make a full recovery, but if she doesn't and is handicapped for life, you always remember (and never let her forget) that some of the most talented and smartest people on the planet are handicapped!! :) I'm thinking about you.
