He is 18 month old, he got diagnose with ATM when he was 7 months old. It stared on a Friday morning when i when to pick him up from bed. I sit him up and he felt strait back. I try over and over and wouldn't sit up at all. By then I new something was wrong. So after all this test were done they could not fine what was wrong with him, almost 24 hours latter they did and mri and found out that his spinal cord was swollen. The only thing he had was a runny nose before all this begin. He was a very active kid always bouncing of the walls lol he was walking holding on to furniture. So we did not understand why he was not moving at all.... His recovery is been a working process like every one with this sickness. He is crawling and standing and walks holding on to things. But we just got stuck there, he is not walking on his own. It seems like his left foot is week and when he try to walk his left foot comes in and cant keep it strait. Now we have questions that seems like doctors don't have answers.

Hi Maria, I would love to keep in contact with you so we can compare progress with our boys. Logan is now 22 months old and got TM at 5 months. He too is crawling around, pulling himself up to a standing position, but is not taking steps on his own while holding onto things. I hope he does soon tho :). I practice with him for about 1 1/2 hours a day in his gate trainer and he loves that!! He seems to drag is right foot when in his gait trainer. The doctors seem to all think he will walk with a walker and later crutches... Merry Christmas and let's keep in touch! Lisa

I know, it's IS great to talk with someone with a little one about the same age.. and compare the hurdles and doctors info! TODAY, logan was crawling into the sand box and as he proped himself up with his arms he took 2 steps into the box. A first! They keep saying he will walk with aid.. we will see :). I was talking to my sister in law that is visiting for the holidays about your son and that i hope logan can walk in his walker soon as your son can. that would be so awesome! Logan too has great upper body strenght and can climbs up to counters, tables, the couch etc.. he's a big boy. really big.. wrestler type big. hahaha. his birth father was well over 6ft and about 400 lbs. Our adoption of he and his brother should be completed by feb :).
A night brace? what kind of nite brace does christopher wear? Logan has AFO's that he wears for about 5 hours a day during the day and a spio vest that i put on him about every other day for trunk support. he's kinda floppy when he's sitting up so he lays down a lot. the don't want to get his to have the full braces up to the waist as they say he will rely on them too much and not ever walk with out braces.
